I am curious what other people use for backup because obviously Apple does not care to take my money.

Other people tend to contact the vendor via their official support channels (i.e. https://support.apple.com and then click "Start now" under "Get Support") rather than complaining about it on the internet.

Already tried that. Two support reps couldn't fix it.

So have them escalate the problem?

I tried that by asking if they could, and they seemed like it wasn't an easy thing to do.

Of course, the first person I talked to didn't know what "Ventura" was, so maybe I called the wrong company.

A lot of people actually do this: https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=discussions.apple.com
