Platform Co-operatives: What is limiting them in Software?

Given the widespread firings and employee unhappiness with bigtech, I thought this year could lead to some interesting alternatives to big-tech models. Platform Cooperatives sound like a good alternative but they have not taken off, what is stopping their growth? Are there any other interesting alternatives that provide more balanced stake to the workers?
