>Armstrong, universally known for his humility is remembered as having no interest on his visit of boasting of his achievements. Instead he was absorbed in finding out more of his Armstrong heritage and making a connection with the area.
Every thing I've read about Neil Armstrong makes it very evident why Nasa chose him to be the first man to walk on the moon. He's the real deal.
I recently learned that the Apollo 11 mission patch is the only crewed mission patch without the astronauts' names on it. Apparently, this was Armstrong's call so as not to take away from everyone else's contribution to the accomplishment.
Which is why it's difficult to boast about a make-believe achievement.
In 1969, he, Aldrin, and Collins were received in the Buckingham Palace [1]. There is are hilarious scenes about this in The Crown series S03E07 [2]. Don't know how real was it [3].
