Ask HN: How do you bootstrap your social presence?

Ive mostly been a quiet, anonymous user of the internet.

I’ve recently broken out of my shell and have been trying to use the internet to connect with others in order to build a network from which I can learn from and share ideas and ultimately find paid work.

However, doing this by starting from a 0 follower account anywhere seems like an impossible task. How do you guys do it without spamming others or following a thousand unrelated accounts?

My X account is https://x.com/ssjbillz

Is there anything I could be doing to achieve my goal?
