Picasso was a phenomenal artist. He'd mastered figurative painting by his mid-teens.

And yet none of that was relevant to his career.

It was very relevant. He used his knowledge to push it farther, analyzing thing to see how they could relate otherwise.

It's luck with bad painting.

It's a bit like know how a computer work deeply help you be a better develloper. You don't use your inner knowledge every day, but it will help you.

Picasso was very good at drawing and painting. He could sketch as well as other artist traditionnal artist. He choose to explore a different path, with success.

I don't like Picasso, but I can recognize the quality of his works.
