The article talks about modular small reactors. Apologies for not having the links on hand to share, but there have been recent articles talking about how delusional & absurd the NuScale style modular small reactors are: creating far more nuclear waste than most nuclear power systems.
I fully would believe China is investing beyond what capitalism can or will. I am ready to hear that there's innovative & exciting here. We need better nuclear power, but mostly are left with slow plodding cautious capitalism that daren't not to.
I think so much of the Integral Fast Reactor (IFR), one of the most promising ways to really extract some of the energy out of our nuclear fuel in a safe non-proliferation free manner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integral_fast_reactor
I went to go find some links on IFR, and surprisingly I found John Kerry at COP28 talking about how nuclear power was essential. What an about face! This man singularly got the most promising safesty most cost effective easiest nuclear power system we ever had on the table cancelled, for basically fradulent fake made up reasons, for emotional and political cause. Seeing him in the chair at COPS28, making the case for nuclear power, is a bitter bitter twist. No man has done worse for nuclear power than John Kerry. What a monster. It's ghoulish beyond belief seeing him advocating for nuclear power, after sabotaging it so. http://www.stableclimate.org/nuclear-ifr
