What does this actually do? I am a senior analytics manager but can't really understand what bitdrift does... the page copy is very down in the weeds.

Is it roughly analogous to feature gating telemetry, ie centrally turning on and off specific bits of telemetry on a per-user basis without needing to wait for a new app build to go through review and publication process?

Yes that is exactly right. We will try to figure out how to make this more clear!

I should add: this is one aspect of what it does. The "ring buffer" is a powerful mechanism that allows retrieval of historical telemetry on demand. So the product is about real time control of telemetry coupled with the ability to retrieve historical data based on more recent conditions.
