CXL 3.1 Specification Aims for Big Topologies

Wow, this feels like the one. Having port based communications feels like what's necessary for fabric mode. A robust trust/security model. 32 bits of user-defined metadata for addresses, allowing all kinds of fancy smart pointers stuff. P2p dma- between devices.

My favorite though is host-to-host memory access! We have all these systems connected via the most awesome high-speed dma system. Not having the hosts be able to communicate over it felt absurd. I was starting to think this was going to be a long dwelling complaint! Not bad seeing this addressed, 15 months after 3.0 was announced.

Now, let's see when we start getting post CXL 2.0 devices!
