How has algorithms and data structures helped you?

How has knowledge of algorithms and data structures benefited you in real-world projects? I've been studying it for nearly three months, but while coding i still faced a problem that would give the click "hey i could use binary trees to solve this", but something that i actively noticed is the capacacity of understanding abstract things quicker (like OOP). so i would like to know your perspective towards this topic and daily problem that comes up at work.
