Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying 20th century media organizations weren't ruthlessly profit-oriented, but they certainly weren't as single-minded about it as the FAANG companies who are now moving to control the media. Actual news and broadcasting companies maintained at least some claim to journalistic integrity. FAANG never has.
