Show HN: Lume – The End of Spreadsheet Chaos for Customer Feedback
joinlume.com
A few months ago, I was helping out with a big research project and noticed something pretty frustrating. When it comes to design, there’s often a gap between when the research wraps up and when the design actually starts. By that time, a lot of the useful stuff we found out just gets buried in our spreadsheets.
That's when I came up with Lume. It's a straightforward tool that acts like a search engine for your spreadsheets, especially the ones packed with words instead of numbers.
With Lume, you've got this neat feature where you can set up a global taxonomy, map your columns, and standardize values. It’s a lifesaver when you’re dealing with feedback spread out across multiple spreadsheets. It organizes all that qualitative data so you can actually use it without the usual runaround. You can also see your data in vertical alignment, which I think is a game-changer for reading long-form feedback.
A bunch of folks from various companies have been giving it a whirl. Based on their feedback, we've been fine-tuning it. It’s still early days, but we think it’s shaped up enough to share more widely.
We're not trying to reinvent the wheel, or replace the big guys like Dovetail, Marvin, Aurelius, Userbit. We know they're out there, and they're great, but they can be overkill for the little guy or cost a pretty penny. Lume’s here to work with what you’ve already got, like your Google stuff, not to ask you to start from scratch.
Keen to hear what you think, so give Lume a go and hit us with your feedback.
Cheers, Peter
