China dumps $21B of US stock and Treasury bonds

From Oct 19th 2023... sky did not seem to fall in the last month.

$350bn of Treasuries traded on 24 November, $182bn of which were sold by dealers to customers [1]. Two days prior, $220bn of stocks traded on the Nasdaq alone [2].

China could liquidate its $820bn of Treasuries [3] in a couple months without throwing the market out of whack.

21B isn't much in the grand scheme of things. But the 10 year treasury yield went to 5%. A historical high. It was noticed.

Preparing for big sanctions? As well as divestment from US real estate etc.

China has been looking to invade Taiwan and the southern islands to use for tech and oil sources.

Allied with Iran and Russia might defend Palestine from Israel and the USA.

The weather window for a TW invasion is pretty narrow, the winds and currents in TW straight. No good beaches for amphibious landing. Basically only May and June are available.

Ouch, that is going to hurt the US!
