People love money and so they're willing to do a lot in pursuit of singular goals like merging biology and silicon into a technological god. Only problem is getting enough cash to actually achieve the mission. As a member of the techno-optimist church I believe that profit incentives will achieve the technological singularity. It is inevitable and simply a matter of time.
