If anyone actually believes this, they're a fool. The mission of the company is to maximize profit. Any external benefit is a happy coincidence.

Perhaps Ilya figures out that he has enough money now (earning over $1m per year base) he can start his own actual non-profit on the side while continuing to pull in comp from Microsoft. He’s committed to responsible AI he just hasn’t found a way to execute yet.
