'Researchers found that Carbon Quantum Dots (CACQDs) derived from used coffee grounds could protect brain cells from damage caused by neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s."
My mother uses the used up filtered coffee grounds for some of her indoor plants. I can imagine there's something useful for the brain in that aswell. Weird relation to make maybe.
TLDR: "Tested a relatively cheap/clean way of making very tiny particles of carbon from what would otherwise be food-waste. Checked to confirm that those tiny particles are still antioxidants just like larger particles are. Nobody knows yet if/how-much antioxidants actually help with all those scary diseases, but... maybe?"
