It's a fatal mistake to look at the human species, a fiercely competitive killer ape that cooperates on nearly a eusocial level, and acknowledge only the competitive side.
It's even worse to look at this killer ape's killer side and conclude that THAT is all intelligence is, or ever will be.

The need for belonging is historically way more powerful than the need for money. Belonging can get someone to put themselves in harm’s way for the group at large. Money doesn’t do that unless the employee is either desperate or confident of their personal survival.
