Lots of reservations about this guy and appalled by some of his positions, but from my outsider perspective this clearly seems like more of a referendum and rejection of the status quo left wing establishment party that's failed to bring prosperity to its people for decades.
Everything I know about Argentina says it should be far more wealthy and productive than it is. It has a bounty of natural resources and geographic advantage comparable to the US, and yet a GDP per capita below the global average. Something's wrong.
