It comes and goes, though seems to be an issue more often than it isn't. At the moment I can get through, that's not been the case for the past week or so generally....

This has a marked impact on HN discussion which already suffers from failure-to-read TFM at the best of times, as I've mentioned multiple times to dang both in comments and via email.

I've also written both A.T. and C.F. concerning this, as the problem appears to be an interaction between the two, neither of whom appear to have much interest is solving what's clearly a problem.

I have neatwork-level DNS Ad blocking and I'm fairly certain that's causing me to have the same issue. If I use my phone on wifi, I get blocked, if I switch to LTE then it works fine.

Edit: And I have too much going on in life to track down exactly which blocklist is causing the issue

I had the same issue using Firefox on MacOS.

DNS over HTTPS is enabled by default and was at the root of my problem. I needed to add these sites to the exception list: archive.is, archive.today, archive.ph

That got me out of captcha purgatory.

In my experience this only happens when I am using Cloudflare DNS. Something about their geolocated resolvers is incompatible with how the archive team thinks they should be.
