Different question: if they are serious about 'AGI', do these engineers and businesspeople think the government will just stand by letting them do what they want as they kick off a potentially dangerous international arms race?

I think despite what the leaders say, the only way to avoid the arms race is to have real political integration. Which seems very unlikely at this point.

But what is to stop them creating a parallel political structure of non-dividend shares given to a selection of people from different backgrounds and nationalities to hold the board accountable?
