How to Discover New Music

Big plug for WFMU, a New Jersey/New York listener-supported, non-commercial radio station that also streams (and has archives) on the net: https://wfmu.org/

I've discovered so many new (to me) artists and music over the past years - particularly on "This is the modern world" https://wfmu.org/playlists/LM

I'll second that! WFMU is the best! Broadcasting since forever across the river from Manhattan. Yoko Ono and Matt Groening are known listeners.

"Bad Animals" is my favorite.

For funk and hiphop, look at https://www.wefunkradio.com/ for the guest DJ every Friday night.

And Soma FM has lots of amazing curated streams. Hands-down, THE best holiday mixes, with several hours of all the versions of aulde lange syne on new years eve! https://somafm.com/

I am surprised how difficult it seems for the streaming platforms to offer an “adventure” mode.

They would also benefit from it because it would lead to a more sub-30-second skips (while still staying on the platform) so they can pay even less to the artists.
