It's the actual flash creation software, not flash players or flash games for anyone curious. They seem to just work on Windows 10 without needing to look up workarounds, but they crash often in my experience.

So weird you posted this because I stumbled upon it organically 2 days ago when I thought I needed it to modify an SWF file. Installed CS5 in WINE before realizing I couldn't import an SWF directly.

Then I found JPEXS Decompiler[0] that allows for full modification of SWF files!

flasm and flare [1] may also be of interest to you.

I used to use SWFMILL as well, also SWFCOMBINE.

Has anyone tried to load old Flash files with these? Will give it a try, I always regretted not converting some of my old Flash projects into YouTube videos, etc.

You might have some luck with Ruffle.rs

I have been immensely impressed with the progress that Ruffle has made. I think the entire Homestar Runner site is powered by Ruffle now, and it seems to work totally fine.

Wow! I have a lot of memories and nostalgia with Flash. I started when a colleague kinda forced me to do Flash (I think version 4), where I stumbled on ASFunction, which changed the whole game. I ended my relations with Flash after I got my name in the About - Credit Screen. Let me try to install the latest version to see where things are. :-)

I remember playing around in Flash 4 and the site skips versions 2-4. I wonder why they're skipped.

I guess because the creators of this website don't have files of these Flash versions lying around.

Not sure, you can get flash 4 from winworld though

If anyone is interested, I am trying to bring back the spirit of Flash with a project to build animated websites with Adobe Illustrator. See svija.com for details.

Out of curiosity, why is Adobe Illustrator better for this than Adobe Animate (née Adobe Flash)?

You can build a whole website, not just the animations.

You could build a whole website in Flash too. Many did.

I did too — that's why I started this project. But the question was about Adobe Animate.
