Spoutible is down (noon PDT)

This is a bummer.

Of all the Twitter replacement wannabes I think Spoutible has been the most successful at capturing the essence of what it was that made Twitter fun early on. The new 'news feed' was a much better take on getting breaking news than the other services. The nerd migration to Mastodon instances was pretty predictable and the Fediverse is sooo clunky but hey following hashtags is a win. Bluesky is an interesting take but missed on news and an influx of indiscriminate Twitter users being invited in was probably a mistake. I haven't tried Threads but then again I'm not invested (financially or mentally) in the Meta universe.

The Spoutible site has this posted:

Services Down

There was an unforeseen interruption in our services due to an issue at our primary data center. We are fully aware of the situation and were notified they are working to resolve the matter as swiftly as possible.

We anticipate that our services will be back online by this evening. Please note that this is an estimated time frame, and we will continue providing updates as more information becomes available.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience during this time.

Thank you for your continued support.
