As facemasks are now considered 'acceptable' (and a few people i know have recently had mild covid, colds etc) i turn off my phone and wear a mask when i go to most definitely shopping centres, sometimes other places. In my part of the world they have - within the last year - put cameras up everywhere, especially at road junctions but not where the vehicles interact, but facing back along the road. Accidents be damned, we need to see where you're coming from. So, mask in the car, too. Random days .

They already don't do any policing with the CCTV already in place.

Policing, like schools, roads, healthcare, bin collections, regulatory oversight, all of it, is too expensive to be allowed.

Just chuck some AI at it. Best case, one volunteer in an PortaKabin with a laptop can police all of London. Worst case the money wasn't wasted, it went to a good home in some dodgy consultant chum's pocket.
