Given a choice between locked down AI controlled by a few large corporations and governments or a more open ecosystem, I strongly prefer the second option. There is a lot of great work done to keep things open, so let’s hope for the best outcome.
I routinely run 7B and 13B models at home, and they are capable enough for many types of projects.
Do you have any example of this? In particular any example that goes beyond "saying that companies can't use as much AI as they want all the time without restriction no matter the impact on people"?
Because "intent on regulating AI into obscurity" isn't how I'd describe the French government.
