other issue is space constraints, if you are at full capicity, you might not be able to afford those extra gb's for said operation.
For the price they sell their devices at, they could afford to throw in an extra hidden 50GB for a redundant system partition. Instead they choose to bilk customers for over $1/GB above the bare minimum.
