“Some pro-Khalistan political parties in India charged one to two lakh rupees--$2500 USD--for giving ‘letter’ to youth, who use it for seeking political asylum in Canada after falsely claiming that they were party cadres and being persecuted in India on religious grounds" [2]

The issue is more that it is impossible to have an open border combined with any sort of welfare state. And there is a question about political compatibility - at some point there is a difference between individual migration and an invasion. But realistically, the US had the debate on this decades ago and has decided that insofar as there is a national culture it doesn't consider it threatened by migrants with foreign views. It is a bit late to get worried about it now for obvious reasons.
The governemnt gets to play both sides by making labour cheap and also campaigning "Build the Wall".
If any working/middle class people complain, the people who control the culture and media will ensure they get smeared as racists.
2. By living in states like California that did that Machiavellian 1-2 combo of allowing illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses, then made it so that people with a driver's license are automatically registered to vote.
Go ahead and produce evidence that votes were cast by ineligible people in California.
Even better if it's a significant enough number to indicate a systemic problem with the registration system.
Either the US goes genocidal and purge 3% of their population or they all get along. Getting along seems like the good option to me!
In the 80s when the Iron Curtain was up, we drove freely between some European countries, but certainly not East Germany.
Which of those governments was more "legitimate"?
This makes zero sense. It has either been spun by the WSJ or the individual in question.
The BJP has almost no political clout in Punjab. It currently holds only 2 seats out of 117 in the legislative assembly. When it was in government, it was as a minor partner in an alliance with the SAD, an unambiguously Sikh party.
The idea that thugs affiliated with the BJP are threatening people in Punjab and making them flee the country is patently absurd.
But to be honest its just from 3 specific states out of the 28. Pareto blah blah. I wont name the states.
The people who do have confidence in migrating illegaly successfully have a very very strong community over there who can help them out with basic needs like food and shelter and can get them blue collar jobs.
Punjab, Andhra and Telangana?

Bukele is more popular in some polls. Also not super popular on MSNBC.
Modi is popular much in the same way the Taliban is popular and seen as having brought stability to Afghanistan as since they have been in power the violence and bombings etc have stopped. The only problem is it was the Taliban doing all the violence. Go figure.
Also hilarious to hear the argument: “oh democratically elected so” that excuses everything they did or do because calling it out is to attack democracy. When that’s a false premise.
That's just democracy. The mob and democracy are referring to same thing with different attitudes.
> "Populist ideologes often are popular, for the subset of people that stand to benefit from their heavy handed policies."
I think you may be suffering from a condition often found at ivy league schools and the NYT where Aristotle's forms of government are scrambled in favor of liberal oligarchy by calling:
Monarchy -> Dictatorship
Oligarchy -> Democracy
Democracy -> Populism
If the US could get a human in 25 years vs now how much should we pay for that kind of growth ?

US Border Partol will also cut down the concertina wire put down by Texas to make it easier for illegals to come in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKeiba3EJq4
Then there is the matter of the doors in the border wall being welded open by US Border Patrol. https://nypost.com/2023/08/22/border-patrol-admits-its-respo...
If you can't find that one you can use this one instead which is big enough for semi trucks to drive through https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lKm0ws_iPg
There are several more crossings I know of where illegals can walk around the end of the existing wall and line up to be apprehended then released to NGOs. They line up and wait in a line to be taken by US Border Patrol buses. Its not just 1 or 2 places. There are MANY such breaks in the fence where US Border Patrol collects illegals and releases them to the US after capturing some biometric information.

We are in the middle of a active full scale invasion by military age males yet all people seem to care about are wars oceans away.
After the newer border wall was built, it reduced crossings in those areas by >70%.
Of course, when the current policy amounts to 'we won't stop you when you come in', it not only doesn't deter crossings but it encourages them.
It's ironic, because it reflects the shifting landscape of Democrat policy, who's members repeatedly voted for a border wall and border security measures (Biden voted for the 2006 Secure Fence Act and has previously stated employers who employ illegals should be jailed).
