IMO this is a weak criticism. It’s pretty common for eg. podcasts within the same network to promote a new podcast by pointing their listeners towards it. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it a Ponzi scheme? No.
Ponzi is the wrong word. Pyramid scheme is more accurate.
