Is that true? I can only find news sources claiming that based only on information from the IDF, and those news sources don’t exactly seem neutral.

This smells odd to me.

I don't think anyone other than the IDF and the Hamas would have access to that information.

Well you're not getting any on the ground reporting from Gaza because their internet is destroyed and their Cellphones are out of batteries
