"When people come across the border, we have 108,000 cities and villages — we should spread them out across the entire country, and not just New York, Chicago, Chicago..."
Is there another Chicago I missed?
And further, how would we take human beings and 'spread them' anywhere? They have freedom to move about the country, live wherever they can manage, right? Like anybody else.
I believe the border states did a bunch of things, including buying bus tickets, to flood the leftie cities opposing having a strong border and sensible migrant policies with a small taste of what border cities have been dealing with for decades. This is the lefties trying to solve the problem they exacerbated without having to admit the border states have been right all along.
Chicago, the second city.
I thought diversity was our strength?
But according to Governor Hochul and Eric Adams, they were a "Sanctuary city." What happened?
Sorry if it wasn't your intent, but this comes off as sarcastic/uncharitable. Why does offering plane tickets to spread out the load make it not a sanctuary city? The ends sound like a reasonable goal to me, even if the strategy might not work. The planes aren't bringing them back to their home countries. They aren't trying to get rid of all their migrants - they are just overloaded. They would in fact be helping even more migrants by not overloading societal infrastructure in one location.
I think because this is literally the same bussing strategy texas was doing and got criticized for, except one is on a bus and the other is a plane. In both cases, the migrants choose their final destination within the US and is provided a free ride to that location with food and water.
One may argue the bus is a much harsher trip than a plane since it takes longer, but that is debatable imo.
