You know who pays the piper because these stories always miss the elephant in the room: how many people can afford an $80,000 vehicle?

It might be that Americans want XXXL vehicles but most of us can't afford them. This is why the Ford Maverick

My local dealer has a $5,000 "Market Adjustment" adder on the Maverick, so I guess that is one indicator that it is indeed a hit. Which is like +20% on the XL models

Hmm. With a search, I do see that the Ford CEO "warning" dealers to stop the markups in early 2022. Apparently at least one dealer didn't heed the memo.

The electric vehicle market is almost entirely affluent liberals. Does this electric Chevy truck appeal to affluent liberals? I wouldnt say so. Since Elon's falling out with the left Rivian is the new vogue electric car brand and they sell a truck

Funny I have seen neighborhoods in the suburbs around Portland, ME that I think would run liberal but boy there are a lot of trucks.

I've been around huge numbers of EV drivers (at Apple HQ for years, myself included) and affluent yes liberals no. independent thinking nerds fascinated by the technology is what i think you're overlooking.
