SAT Data Shows the Deep Inequality at the Heart of American Education

NYT commenters point out that people who have extremely high income are more likely to have very smart kids. Even the article admits that academic ability is heritable.

How can we know what is the appropriate amount of disparity between the lowest-income and highest-income? Headlines like this one don't help.

“The solution, researchers say, is addressing achievement gaps much earlier, through things like universal pre-K, increased funding for schools in low-income neighborhoods, and reduced residential segregation.” I hope politicians are listening.
