Reasons Our Civilization Will Soon Collapse

While the article reads on the pessimistic side (in short: existing solutions won't cut it), in general: all the things described are happening already. Mostly getting worse.

And 99.99% certain: humanity is not prepared for the combination + 2nd order effects of these issues.

On a side note: shouldn't "polycrisis", "multicrisis" or a similar term deserve its own WP article? If only to explain the concept? There is one on societal collapse:

But it doesn't mention any such term. Or much discussion about how causes may interact (other than that causes are complex & may involve domino effects).

As HN readers will know: the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

A nice rehearsal of most of the ways that we're fouling our nest - resource depletion (especially high-quality sand), topsoil destruction, groundwater depletion, bio-diversity loss (under which is included fishery destruction) and increasing debilitation of governments in many parts of the world.

You kids are going to be living in interesting times.
