Times Beach, MO becomes ghost town after improper dioxin waste disposal (1985)

The story is some "waste disposal company" is a random country guy who sprays toxic waste all over the road to "control dust". He succeeded in turning Times Beach into a non-irradiated Chernobyl after toxic substances were discovered to be unhealthy everywhere in the area.

Dioxin is particularly nasty because:

- it's extreme toxicity even in tiny quantities

- it's colorless

- it's odorless

- leads to pancreatic and bladder dysfunctions like diabetes (type-2 and adult-onset type-1) and cancers
