Uptrends.ai just passed 10,000 users! Next step, figure out paid conversion -- anyone have recommendations for converting free users to paid more reliably as a D2C SaaS?
I've been an early investor in a similar effort a while ago. The big problem for companies in this space is to stay friendly with the sources (because you can be cut off fairly easily) and to ensure that you keep the quality high in a world of ever decreasing value of a bit. Getting people to pay is possible but only those that actually make money on your service will keep it. Best of luck!
Once the news agencies find out you are siphoning their stories they will contact you to set up contracts I would imagine that you are getting them for free for now. That is a big cost which is why in your space bloomberg and Refinitiv charge a premium for this kind of feature and they pay their sources based on royalties.
Most stock market news comes from publicly available press releases, earnings call transcripts and 8k filings, I doubt they need to steal stories from news agencies.
You have paid plans on your pricing page already. Are you saying all 10k users are free and no one is buying paid plans ?
You should try to come up with some yardstick for measuring your monthly results. If you can show that you've been delivering value for your subscribers in the past month, and how your paying users could have cashed in using that information, then that might persuade some free users to start paying.
