But there is still a lot of comments. I would call it a "previous discussion", not a dupe. Especially since people like to buy gold when there is global instability, and a new war just started 14 days ago.

I read somwwhere this was credit card cash-back arbitrage; get your 3% back. Although, I'm not sure who you resell it to.

It's unlikely to be arbitrage, as they are still sold with a "premium" (above the spot price / melt value of the gold).
