- Byzantine General's Problem (Consensus in a distributed system)
- Part time Parliament (Paxos Algorithm also reaching consensus in a distributed system)
- Confused Deputy
- Gossip Protocol(Quickly spread state in a distributed system)
- Vector Clocks ( Determine a partial ordering of events in a distributed system)
Many of these concepts were given clever names given by Leslie Lamport who did a lot of Distributed Systems Research.
