Death is one of those events where thoughts of past and future are burned off in the intensity of the moment.
So far this observation is just based on the deaths of three canine family members, each one losing their spark of life as I held them, and also on my experience hunting and killing other animals, from deer all the way down to the ant in my kitchen (I try to relocate most arthropods we don't want in the house, but I don't know if that's always better than killing- house spiders, for example, may be invasive species outside of houses. We tend to leave the smaller spiders, anyway).
