Not trolling...legitimate question. Seems like a lot easier task to me.
Sure they got greedy but what is the point of automation if you're not pocketing the 6% for your shareholders instead of a realtor?

But from my perspective (possibly not informed enough) their main purpose was to collude to drive up prices.
In my city everyone started by saying "Lol...Zillow shows my house being way higher than it should be." and within a few years it became "Zillow says my house is worth this much...so I need to get at least that"
At the beginning of this year it was widely reported in my area that housing prices were dropping quickly on average...but for some reason Zillow was showing my family's houses as going up in price. Maybe they were outliers...maybe there was an error. But it seems to me that when the only place showing prices rising is Zillow...that is an issue.
Edit for clarity: Zillow seemed to me to be no different than MLS but with a speculative aspect.
Because a buyer’s agent won’t show a house that isn’t listed by another member of the cartel. So if you want most buyers to see your property, you have to use the cartel.
And you don’t get to view a cartel house unless escorted by a buyer’s agent. Also, the seller’s agent will discourage the seller from accepting offers from buyers not represented by the cartel. So if you want to see most properties, and have your bit taken seriously, you again have to use the cartel.
