But for my money, nothing beats Alex Garland's miniseries Devs for the way the entire production is designed around the idea of a deterministic universe. They really try to get you believing and feeling the reality.
What would it feel like to be in a deterministic universe? To have the certain knowledge? Dread isn't quite it, but to contradict the OP a bit, something like existential terror is an understandable reaction. To quote from a poem appropriated in the show, "the mind blanks at the glare."
Great cast, original concept, single writer/director's vision, what else do you need?
