What a clickbait title. There is no chaos at all. People with units for rent are trying to skirt the new law by listing on social sites. Of course this comes with risks for both parties. But its not "Pure Chaos".

Yeah, it's funny isn't it? People choosing to manage their personal property outside the (over?) reach of local government is immediately framed as "pure chaos" [1].

Mind you, I understand there might be safety concerns in rare cases, but then say just that. "NY AB&B Ban is leading to Safety Concerns".

Hyperbole has no place in journalism. Put another way, using hyperbole is a disqualification from using the title journalist / journalism.

[1] It's not just chaos, but *pure* chaos. Does that mean watered down chaos or slightly diluted chaos would be acceptable?

The implicit statement in your comment is that people have the right to manage their own property any way they want. I think this is short sighted when the city, i.e. your neighbours, pay so much taxes to take care of the area around your property. They should have some say on what goes on in the property. For example, maybe people don't want to live next to a hotel when they didn't move in next to one?

Not really. There is nothing implicit at all. It was a very simple statement:

People self-*'ing does not automatically equal and/or lead to "pure chaos."

Yes, there are concerns. Unfortunately, Wired's hyperbole has more to do with their own revenue and profits than it does with the issue itself.
