Show HN: A digital whiteboard for basketball coaches
elitehoopsapp.com
A bit of backstory. My son had trouble learning a zone press in basketball. He knew conceptually what he was supposed to do, but he didn't always know where to be. And so, that night, we drew out his responsibilities on a sheet of paper.
But then, he wanted to know where his teammates should be. So, I bought a whiteboard - and we did it again. This was better, but even still - he wanted to review it again each night. So I kept drawing, and drawing...and drawing.
What he needed was a video he could watch, anytime - anywhere. And, that's how I accidentally ended up making a digital whiteboard. Built for basketball coaches at all levels, it helps them teach and share their playbook for iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
Beta testing had a great response, so I feel like this is truly the first app I’ve launched with some modicum of market validation. It’s not a ton, but I did manage to get 650 coaches to sign up for the mailing list, and have over 1,000 Instagram followers for it.
Here’s hoping I grow it and coaches love it! Happy to answer any questions or thoughts, basketball seems like a field ripe for some good software and technology.
