Alternative beliefs in psychedelic drug users

One does not easily return to the work-spend-reproduce cycle after an afternoon-lifetime with the machine-elves, at least not without a pervasive sense of unease.

Does any strongly held belief withstand a transformative experience? How many soldiers return from a tour of duty with identical fact-sensing and political beliefs? How many intellectually impoverished students graduate from college with the same belief systems they brought with them from home?

What I find remarkable, once again, about psychedelic drugs is their high reliability in creating transformative experience. Perhaps it is this rather than the transformative experience itself that is key.
