Brave lost goodwill by going crypto. Now that Kagi has a superior product, there isn't a good reason to choose Brave other than not wanting to pay.

A couple of thoughts: Brave started out with crypto, Kagi uses Google's API for results. Brave Search is at least independent and not reliant on Google.

The thing is, at least from my experience, kagi is actually worse, and it isn't independent either.

Brave sells the shit they scrape for AI training/inference... with no way to opt-out. How is that even remotely close to "privacy respecting"?

Last time I checked you can block Google and Bing. Brave doesn’t offer this feature.

DDG also do in-line ads like Google, which are scummy as hell.

I use them, but that single factor means I don’t like them.
