Amazon's new CEO Andy Jassy “is being forced to clean up Jeff Bezos' mess”

Jassy has thoroughly destroyed trust in senior leadership, first with layoffs, blunt hiring freezes, and a truly chaotic rollout of RTO, RTH, RTT, etc.
I’ve never seen morale so low.
And the CEO is always cleaning up the prior guys mess. The next one will be cleaning up Jassys mess
There's going to be more bloodletting. Why does Amazon have Wondery AND Audible podcasts? Why Athena AND Redshift? Fresh and Go and Whole Foods? There's a ton of "synergies" post-Bezos that can go.
I would say too, I worked a lot with Andy, Wilke, and to a lesser extent bezos. Andy is no slouch and he earned his job and Wilke earned his loss. But Amazon is a mess, I can’t defend retails business structure - it’s like a giant blank check to product managers. I don’t know I could classify this as cleaning up Bezos mess, it’s hard to see the immense value he created as a mess, I do think Andy has an Augean stable task ahead of him. I think there’s few people capable of that task as Andy.
That said, Andy has a giant gaping hole where his empathetic heart belongs. I am glad I’m not there any more.
Otherwise, that's an impressive history - are you a mgmt consultant?
Retail could make money tomorrow if it wasn't so insanely poorly run, like you said. It's stuck in the "profits don't matter, just do more stuff" loop, and honestly will be until they cut deep.
I also don't understand where Amazon is going with all these other brands. Twitch? Audible? OneMedical? There's no way that they all make it until the end of the decade.
Don't take the CEO role then? Or was he also forced to do that as well?
