Google Podcasts, which is an actual thing, to shut down next year

Typically a news article tries to make the event reported on seem a bigger deal than it is. This one goes out of its way to reassure the reader "no one's heard of the app and no one cares that it's shutting down"... Odd. It's the default go-to podcast app in my friend circle!

Fucking Google, man. I’m on an iPhone and I actually use Google Podcasts over the native iOS app, as I find its UX much more intuitive.

it's actually a pretty good app. offline downloads work. simple interface. you can subscribe and discover podcasts etc.

prefer it to most podcast apps. but you can never trust google.

My preferred podcast app, discovery is bad(atleast in my country), but other than that overall it has been a great app!

They even added dark mode couple of days later after I left feedback! Kudos to them!

This is sad.

I use Google Podcasts because of its simple UI. I am subscribed to a few creators and the clean UX "just works", also on Android Auto as I listen to most podcasts on the road.

Hope at least they integrate the podcast functionality well into Youtube Music without bloating the Android Auto functionality too much...

I thought it was the default android podcast app, lacking ads etc. This is sad, alas...
