Consciousness theory is being slammed as pseudoscience

Isn't this how real science works? Theories and counter theories? Proven and then some eventually disproven? Around and around...

Geez, for centuries not only was the world flat, but it revoled around the sun. Suggesting otherwise was madness. And yet, where are we now?

When did science become so static and monolithic? So timid and afraid of its own shadow?
