You know, sometimes people cut themselves very badly with sharp knives.

I'd like you to give me all your kitchen knives. If you need to cook a steak or something, you can just give me a call and I will supervise you while you use the knife.

I wouldn't want you to make a mistake and make it too easy to injure yourself.

In medicine, this is called an autoimmune disease. In social sciences, this is called paranoia. The latter is about about as helpful to an organization as the former is to a human body.
