- My goal is to study for network and system admin job. BOTH, specially linuxadmin.
- This is not the first time I am learning networking and security(I studied them in college), but this is the first time I'll be seriously learning networking and security. lol.
- I learn better by videos than books. But if the book is insanely well written, I do understand them. For eg: books like william stallings networks. Or books like colouris's distributed systems.
- These are the books that I'll purchase next week.(Books come cheap in Nepal compared to usa)
- William Stallings network
- Fourouzan network
- Fourozan security
- Stallings security
- Deitel OS
- Stallings OS
- tcp ip explained philip miller
I've looked at most popular CCNA courses at udemy by c.bryant, that youtube guy that also teaches in udemy(i forgot the name), bombal, n. anderson and none of them matches my learning style. If you want to know what kind of courses I like
- I genuinely love that youtube guy's videos, but since he teaches for free in youtube I can't motivate me to watch him. Although he's in udemy, I don't like paying for what I can get for free. I forgot his name, but he's quite popular. That's the kind of content(slides, examples, figures, illustrations etc) I'm looking for but it should be paid and under 20$ (in sales; I know I'm not normal lol).
- I tried arash delijoo 133hrs course and what a load of shit it was! I could not tolerate even 30 mins of that course lol.
I've heard good things about CCNA books. But do they teach computer networking properly or is it just cramming for ccna exam, my objective is to learn, not to pass stupid ccna exam. Say I read stallings/fourozan book how much helpful will these ccna books be? I've read todd lamele book and I didn't like his way of presentation.
I really love learning via exercises SO I THINK CCNA BOOKS ARE A GOOD FIT FOR ME.
Concepts that I need to learn
- ssl
- dns
- http protocol
- tcp ip protocol
You might say you can just use google to learn them, I tried and realized the foundations were really important. I can do my job, but if something new issue happens, I won't be able to solve it at first sight without learning the concepts.
