Pippin Barr is a master of deconstructing and subverting everything we know about gaming.

https://pippinbarr.com/lets-play-ancient-greek-punishment/in... is another favorite, and https://pippinbarr.com/sibilant-snakelikes/info/ is similar to the submission but using snake instead of pong.

Tons of good stuff to explain on the site though!

In ancient greek punishments, in the Tantalos minigame, the giant deadly boulder hanging above his head, as described in Homer's Odyssey, is missing. but so cool anyways!

The turn-based one is cracking me up. There is something quite genius about taking a game as simple as Pong and deconstructing, reconstructing and just pulling it apart.

The pixel graphics with linear texture sampling looks weird and/or broken. For a retro look you might want to look into using nearest-neighbor sampling, instead.

Somewhat related is Pong Kombat https://www.mobygames.com/game/10443/pong-kombat/

Just went thru every single one of them. That's interesting. I wonder if anyone else did the same.
