Ask HN: How do you check out at the end of the working day?

I'm not sure how the average end of the working day looks like for you, but here is mine:

- I have unanswered Slack message - I have new messages in my Inbox (despite practicing GTD) - I have tons of action items in actionable email folders

It's 16:30, quick time reporting and I'm off to picking up the kids.

As I walk to school, my brain keeps thinking about all those pending emails and action items. I often end up not properly focusing on my kids

Work is not stressing me. I love my work! But there are too few hours in each day to both complete all pending tasks and spend quality time with my kids.

How do you check out from work? Any tips and tricks are appreciated.
